Some chess collectors felt that the base of King & queen in our previous lot was inadequate, so we heard to our customer’s opinion and respected their verdict by increasing the base width of king & queen. The Wider base gives the better stability while playing speed chess. Now the King proudly stands at 3.85" tall with a base diameter of 1.57". Dark chess pieces are exquisitely crafted in rosewood. Because of its rarity, rosewood chess pieces are the primary choice of many chess enthusiasts. rosewood is an alluring wood and probably the most admired wood around.

The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. They are meticulously handcrafted from the finest grade wood and polished by hand to give it a rich and long-lasting shine. For superior protection against scratches and dirt, we've shielded the pieces with buff-polish instead of lacquer finish.
